As a new information crawl technology, Wireless sensor networks effectively achieveintegration of the physical world and the information world, and has profoundly affected people’swork and lifestyle. Coverage strategy is directly related to the monitoring perceived of the targetarea and the optimizing allocation of limited resources, and it largely determines qualityimprovement for wireless sensor networks. Therefore, the research on coverage strategy ofwireless sensor network covering has a very important value and significance. This paper first introduces the concept、characteristic and research status of wireless sensornetworks, and then summarizes the classification and the research status of coverage controlalgorithm for wireless sensor networks. On that basis, this paper focused on coverage deploymentmethod for Three-dimensional environment of wireless sensor networks, and exactly proposedtwo kinds of coverage control scheme: the algorithm of uncertainty deployment for fullcoverage of the three-dimensional space and the coverage control algorithm of UnderwaterWireless Sensor Networks. In the algorithm of uncertainty deployment for full coverage of thethree-dimensional space, this paper first proposed a coverage pattern based on cuboid, then therelationship between coverage and sensor nodes’ radius is deduced, also the minimum numbers ofsensor node to maintain network area’s full-coverage is calculated. At last, sensor nodes aredeployed according to the coverage pattern after the monitor area is subdivided into finite3D grid.Experimental results show that compared with traditional random deployment method, sensornodes number is reduced effectively while coverage rate of monitor area is ensured using ourcoverage pattern and deterministic deployment scheme. In addition, this paper proposed adistributed algorithm of coverage control for Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks. Assume thatnodes initially deployed on the surface of the water, this algorithm is first to control the nodesin-depth, then proceeded cycle control on2-D plane, and ultimately to achieve efficient coverageof the three-dimensional sensor networks. Simulation results verified the effectiveness of theproposed scheme in this paper.
