Since China and South Korea established diplomatic relations in1992, the twonations has become good partners in society and culture, the relationship between themdevelops rapidly, exchanges in language and news become increasingly frequent, and agood situation of “mutual exchange and common progress” appears in news headlines. In this context, numerous scholars carry out researches on the language features ofnews headlines of the two nations. The newspaper news communication languagebecomes the focus of research of scholars and experts for its features of wide range ofcontent, large readership, long reading time and lasting social influence. It can be saidthat the use of newspaper news headlines is the use of language of the time, which canbe understood by people of this time. The news language of newspaper can form a kindof intangible cultural orientation in the society. Therefore, it is necessary to useabbreviations in a correct, standard and clear way, vividly reveal the news content andcorrectly express the thought and profoundness of works for news and culturalcommunication. When I was studying in China, I found that both Chinese and Koreanhave news headline language, and conducted comparative study on the two languageswith the features of news headline language. With the main Chinese and Korean newsheadlines between May2005and October2011as linguistic data, I analyzed andcompared the brachylogy, new word and colorful word through the language features ofChinese and Korean news headlines. First, ellipsis of Chapter2mainly discusses theellipsis of structural constitution of language. Ellipsis of auxiliary words and adverbs iscommon in Chinese news headlines, while Korean news headlines mainly omit auxiliarywords or conclusions. The temporary and digital abbreviations common in Chinesenews headlines are rare in South Korea. Chinese characters are often used for ellipsisin Korean news headlines. News headlines of both nations try to omit non-central wordsto make the headlines highlight the main information communicated by the news.Secondly, new word of Chapter3studies independently created new words and oldwords with new meaning. In other words, with the change in society and people’s idea, they are new words that naturally appear with new meaning different from the previouswords. Chapter4discusses the use of colorful words in Korean and Chinese newsheadlines. Both Chinese and Korean news headlines have the features of using manyverbs and adjectives, as well as idioms and proverbs. Onomatopoeias and mimicrywords often appear in Korean news headlines, which is rare in Chinese news headlines. In a word, through the above analysis, the article comes to the conclusion thatthere are both common ground and difference between Chinese and Korean newsheadlines, and gives its opinions about the reasons for this from cultural and socialperspectives to provide reference for learners and researchers of the two languages.
