The third generation mobile communication technology can achieve worldwideseamless roaming, has complete authentication and billing system. Wireless local areanetwork has the advantages of low cost, convenient deployment, high transmission rate. The integration of3G and WLAN can make advantages of the two networkcomplementary. This paper mainly studies the authentication and key agreementprotocol in3G-WLAN interworking.Howerver, the existing solutions have some problems. The protocol based onsymmetric key agreement can not solve the anonymity problem; The protocol based onPKI have the disadvantage of complex certificate management, high computational andstorage overhead, not applicable to user equipment which has lower calculate ability; The protocol based on Identity-based scheme has the key escrow proble, noce PKG isnot credible, the system will collapse; The protocol based on certificateless cryptographycan not only avoid the defects in PKI certificate management, but also can avoid thesafety problems caused by PKG when the PKG is no longer trusted. This paperproposes a new protocol based on certificateless public key cryptography. The main research works of this paper are as follows:1We study authentication and key agreement protocol on3G-WLAN interworking, analysis main threat on current agreement, and points out the potential vulnerability andattack, summarizes the improved protocol which safety conditions should meet;2We comprehensivly consider the equilibrium between efficiency and safety of theimproved agreement, proposes a new protocol based on certificateless public keycryptography;3This paper finally adopts formal analysis to prove the security of the newprotocol proposed. The result show that this proposed protocol can significantlyenhance the security.
