Design And Implementation Of The Telemedicine Endoscopy PACS System

With the rapid development of information society, the competition in Chinese medicalindustry is more and more intense. Hospitals in China have pay great attention to series ofproblems, including improving management and work efficiency, reducing cost and providingbetter service. Thus this paper focus on developing a system called Picture Archiving andCommunication System (PACS), which can make remote diagnostic for patients. PACS isbased on medical imaging, image processing, workstation, network design, database, softwareengineering, and communication engineering. It aims to solve the problems, including imageacquiring, displaying, saving, transmitting, and managing. Telemedicine is to establish contactbetween doctors and patients, between different areas of the hospital, to complete the task ofremote diagnosis and treatment, teaching, academic research, and video conferencing,thusgreatly improving the efficiency of medical and economic benefits.The paper divides six chapters to do the work to carry on the elaboration and the explan-ation, firstly introduces the framework of PACS and its significance. Secondly，the overallidea, including design principles, development target, the design and implementation of theoverall structure, and the design of subsystem flowchart, is present. Then it makes detaileddescription of each subsystem, DICOM image communicating and processing, HD medicalimaging workstation, and telemedicine subsystem. In the end, this paper presents the systemintegration, interface, transmitting, saving, and application.In this paper, a remote medical and PACS system has been achieved. It has advantages inoperator interface and user experience, which shows the superiority of PACS. We make thepromotion of the system in hospitals.
