With the development of technology, the informationization of the catering enterprises management is increasingly high. In the recent years, various wireless communication technologies began to be applied to the restaurant service management system. With the growing rise of the young consumers, more fashionable and independent consumption concept comes into being, and self-service consumption pattern becomes more and more popular. The mode of ordering based on attendants gradually shows its insufficiency and dehumanization. Therefore, developing a wireless self-ordering system is significant for the development of catering industry.The development of a self-service ordering system based on wireless network is mainly introduced in this thesis. The system consists of two parts, including embedded self-service terminal and management system on PC, and the two parts exchange data through the wireless network. In this thesis, the hardware platform of self-service terminal is designed and implemented based on S3C2440, and is equipped with wireless Wi-Fi module and LCD&touch-screen module. And the hardware platform is ported Windows CE5.0. The software system on terminal is developed using the ActionScript3.0language, and flash CS3is used as the development tool. The management system on PC is developed adopting three-tiered C/S structure. Microsoft SQL Server2005is used as the database server, and C#is used as the development language in the system on PC. The system realizes dish information querying, table information querying, dinner table opening remotely and customer self-ordering through self-service terminal. Simultaneously, system supports distributing and printing order list automatically, and provides functions of business monitor, ordering service, checkout and background management on the PC system.In this thesis, firstly, the subject background, and current development status are mentioned. Then the functional requirements are analyzed, and the solution of the system is given. Follow by, the terminal’s development, including hardware’s design and implement, and the operating system’s porting, is described in detail. After that, software system design is specified, including the terminal software system, management system on PC and database. In the part of software implement, first of all, the implementation of network communication is given, and then the specific implementation of each module in terminal system and management system on PC are described. The test methods and results of each function module and the overall system are illustrated in the system test part. Finally, the conclusion to this thesis and the outlook of it are given for further study.
