The use of GSM, CDMA and other mobile communication signals as passive radarsignal has many advantages. For example, the signal resources are widely distributedand the passive radar can detect the low-altitude moving targets easily and so on. Byreceiving the echo of the low-altitude targets which is illuminated by the externalradiators, it can detect, locate and track the low-altitude targets. The paper studies the passive radar data acquisition and moving target detectiontechniques based on GSM signal as the external radiation. The background andsignificance of the study are introduced at the beginning of the paper. And then theGSM signal characteristics in time and frequency domain along with the passive radarbased on it are brought forward briefly, obtaining the time domain and ambiguityfigures based on real data. In the following it has the focus on the robust Caponbeam-forming techniques and the simulation along with the performance analysis isgiven, the robust Capon beam-forming has many advantages such as it can still get abetter pointer to the desired signal in the case that there is arrival angle error of thedesired signal. Finally the data acquisition base on GSM signal and the signal process ofmoving target detection are analyzed in detail respectively. The data acquisition partincludes the composition of the system platform along with the brief introduction toeach section, data acquisition theoretical analysis and the phase analysis of the signalreceiver, obtaining a better acquisition program. The signal process of the targetdetection part describes a method by which the direction estimate of the direct wave ismore accurate. The results obtained by processing the measured data verify the abovemethods.
