With the rapid development of network technology, especially the popularity of p2ptechnology, the film’s copy and distribute become more easily, and it directly leads to thefilm’s copyright protection becomes more complicated, so there is an urgent need todevelop more advanced digital rights protection technology which can strengthen theprotection of film’s copyright and maintain the legal rights of the copyright owner.The traditional digital rights protection technology generally use direct encryption orselective encryption algorithm and the key is transmitted through network between clientand server, once hackers get the key illegally, the film’s copyright will suffer a greatinfringement. For this problem, the digital rights protection technology based on film’sformat is developed, which does not only consider to encrypt the film, but also extractsome key data from the film itself based on the film’s container format and code format.And the key data will be stored in copyright server, if one client wants to play the film, itneeds to get the key data during playback. So even if the hackers have got the decryptionkey, but due to the lack of necessary key data, the film can not be played normally.In order to extract key data, it need to analyze the structure of film, including thecontainer format and code format. Firstly as an example, it analyzes the most popular mp4container format and h.264video codec. Then using stsd box and stco box within eachtrack as key data of the container layer, and using sps pps and idr frame headerinformation within nal packets as key data of the coding layer, it develops a method toextract key data from the two layers. Finally combining the relevance of the two layers, itgives an optimized method to extract key data fastly.In order to run the system, it designs three modules and gives a simpleimplementation, including a module of extracting key data in server, a module of restoringkey data in client and a module of communication between them. After the test andanalysis, it proves that the system can strengthen the ability of film’s copyright protectionand the film lacking of key data can not be played normally.
