Imaging laser radar (Light Detection and Ranging, Lidar) is a novel kind of imagingsensor with high accuracy by combining the laser technology and radar technology, whichhas many advantages such as high angular resolution, high range resolution, highmeasurement accuracy and strong anti-interference capacity. Apart from measuring ranges,some lidars can also record the intensity of the backscattered laser light and othermulti-dimension signal, which can be integrated into multi-characters image. Lidar hastremendous potential applications in terrain matching, terrain following and flyforward-looking obstacle.Lidar system simulation is a combination of laser radar technology and computersimulation technology, is a new means for the design of future laser radar system, and isone of the most important research fields on laser radar system. Integrated, comprehensivesimulation software can facilitate the evaluation, design of laser radar systems, can predictthe assessment and performance of laser radar systems, and can guide the design ofimaging laser radar system.In this paper, we simulate the entire process of lidar in different terrain conditions anddifferent atmospheric conditions to find the contact between them and detectionperformance. We also simulate in different carrier parameters to show how the parametersinfluence the detection performance. The experimental results show that, the model notonly meets the real lidar system well, but also it can show the influence of several keylidar system parameters to imaging laser radar detection capacity well.
