Shape from Shading (SFS) technology develops rapidly because of its simpleoperation, low cost, high efficiency, and wide application rage. However, on the one hand,traditional SFS technology based on diffuse reflectance model has a theoretical error,which makes the reconstruction model have a big error; On the other hand, any imagecontains background information, so SFS reconstruction model also contains backgroundinformation, and all these limit the wide application of SFS. In order to improve theaccuracy of SFS reconstruction model and extend the application fields of SFS, thelighting model and the method of removing the redundant points of3D SFS reconstructedmodel should be studied.Direct at the low accuracy and resolution of the SFS reconstruction model and theSFS reconstruction model contains redundant points, this paper chooses the estimation ofhybrid reflectance model coefficient, removing the redundant points and surfacereconstruction as the research objects, the appropriate solutions are proposed. The maincontent of the paper are as follows:(1) Research on the distribution rule of the surface reflected light, according to therelationship between direct reflection strength and the range of direct reflection, get theestimation formula of the coefficient of direct reflectance and diffuse reflection andhighlights index, and establish a hybrid reflectance model corresponding to the actualreflection characteristics of object surface, the shape accuracy of reconstructed surface isimproved.(2) Aims at the shortcomings of SFS reconstruction model contains redundant points,the intersecting polygons based remove the redundant point method is proposed. Gets thebinary image and reconstructs3D profile of object using Shape from shading method.Finally, removes the redundant points of image background of3D SFS reconstructedmodel through fusing the information of3D profile and2D image, gets the threedimensional digital model of the object in the image, lay the foundation for the wideapplication of SFS method. (3) Direct at the3D data’ resolution is limited by the resolution of image, the B-splineinterpolation technology is adopted to realize the three dimensional reconstruction of thedigital model and improve the resolution of the model.(4)In the research all above, based on the windows XP, Open GL andobject-oriented programming language Visual C++6.0. Paper design the surfacereconstruction based on hybrid reflection model prototype system, and has completed theimage processing model, three-dimensional recovery model, digital modeling model andsurface reconstruction model. Finally, an example is used to verify the correctness of thealgorithm.
