As a new network technology, Wireless Sensor Network has attracted attention fromnumerous scholar since its appearance because of its wild application prosperity andnovel technology challenge. It became a popular research area in computer science withthe development of wireless technology. Routing protocol, as a core technology ofNetwork layer in Wireless Sensor Network, has become one of the most popular areas inall Wireless Sensor Network research.This paper first introduces Wireless Sensor Network generally, including structuresof Wireless Sensor Network, construction of Sensor node and some key technology inWireless Sensor Network.Then the paper analyzes and compares current Wireless Sensor Network routingprotocols in categories, especially researches and discusses based on the hierarchicalstructure of wireless sensor network routing protocol in detail, and based on this, designsa new Wireless Sensor Network’s routing protocols——Fixed Cell Routing Protocol(FCRP). The protocol uses the theory based linear programming to classify network inarea in order to solve the problem of high energy-consuming among nodes in network.Meanwhile, the protocol proposes a more simplified mechanism rotation cycle of clusterhead nodes to avoid its fast energy consumption, and then meets the objective of everySensor node share the energy consumption of cluster nodes. The design of the protocolalso includes some necessary fault recovery mechanism to ensure the robustness ofrouting protocol.By analyzing performance of different clustering radius of FCRP throughOMNET++simulation software, the paper compares FCRP with traditional LEACH,TTDD protocol, and consequently proves the new protocol has improved over otherscluster-based routing protocols for Wireless Sensor Networks in varieties of performance.Finally, the paper introduces Wireless Sensor Network using delay and disruptiontolerant technology and demonstrates its application feasibility in delay and disruptiontolerant networks and advantages in performance of strengthen the FCRP.
