Mining Organizational Structure Of Workflow

The workflow reflects the actual situation of business processing execution and berecorded by workflow log. Therefore, to find the valuable objective information, analysisand improvement of the operation of the business process the workflow log has animportant role in business administration. Workflow mining is the technology to build aworkflow modeling and analyze the workflow log. The technology mainly focuses on threeaspects of the case perspective, process perspective and organizational perspective. Theprocess perspective provides significant support on the business processes improving andrestructuring, furthermore, its improvement also has made a great progress. As to theorganizational perspective, it focuses on the company’s organizational structure mining. Itcontributes on the rational allocation of human resources, but, research achievements arerelatively less comparing with process perspective. Therefore, the paper mainly focuses onthe organizational perspective of workflow, and introduces some constructive ways tomining the actual organizational structure from the workflow log.The first part of paper will introduce the origin of the workflow, life cycle of theworkflow and a common modeling method in the workflow, the basic steps of pretreatmentin a workflow log. They are the log aggregation, data cleansing and data consolidation. Inaddition, this part also will describe some researching methods of the process dimension,such as the classical α algorithm.In the following part, the paper will provide a method of the workflow mining in theorganizational structure based on activity similarity. The method will introduce theMinkowski distance, spatial similarity and Pearson correlation coefficient to measureexecutor’s similarity. Meanwhile, in order to improve the efficiency of mining, the paperalso provides a method to min the useful information from organizational structure ofworkflow base on grid-based clustering. The paper will design experiments to test andcontrast. Finally, the theoretical analysis and experimental results both confirm theproposed methods are effective.
