Workflow technology is widely applied in office automation, e-business, Informationmanagement and other fields. The workflow business process exists unpredictability in themanagement of business process and the workflow process can not organize the staff tooperate affairs voluntarily and dynamically. In view of the above problems, how to make themulti-agent collaboration technology blend into the workflow system so as to the workflowcan achieve performing recourse management voluntarily, task distribution, the process offlow engine with the help of a variety of intelligent agents is the primary focus of thisresearch.The active workflow model based on the analysis of multi-agent collaborationtechnologies, technologies related to workflow, the characteristic of active workflow andimplementing technologies was proposed. The active property of the software process in taskdistribution, resource management and process management was implemented through thecoordination of the multi-agent system, and then the non-obstacle or little-obstacle activeworkflow was achieved finally.First, the entity property of workflow based on the reference model of workflow wasexpanded, and the active workflow concept model based on multi-agent collaboration wasbrought forward. The workflow business process model, activity model, resource model, datamodel, rule model and Agent basic model were established by means of formal definition.Secondly, the active workflow framework was designed, in which the design of theworkflow engine parts was emphasis. The concept of evaluation value was proposed in theimproved contract net, which was used into the task allocation of active workflow so that theactive workflow in the resources allocation process could select resources throughconsidering various kinds of conditions of constraint synthetically. And the performing of thewhole process was driven by means of using ECA rules and process Agent, the routing ofworkflow was improved by using critical path.Finally, the active workflow simulation methods, management and monitoring,communication and collaboration technologies were researched. And the correctness of thedesigning was verified in practical application through operating the system.
