With the development of wireless sensors, low-power electronics, radiofrequency (RF) and embedded system, wireless sensor network (WSN) has becomeone of the most active frontier fields related to interdisciplinary studies and advancedtechnologies, which are widely used in military defense, medical monitoring, environmental monitoring, traffic management and many other fields. The wirelesssensors typically deploy in unmanned areas or enemy territory, the limited nodeenergy and computing and communication capabilities make networks security poorand the node be easily captured. Therefore, the security issue of wireless sensornetworks has become a difficult issue. Given that wireless sensor nodes usually havelimited energy resources, designing a reasonable and effective safety scheme hassignificant theoretical and practical value. Existing works have some commonproblems, such as the isolation of sensor nodes, the waste in key pre-distribution, theleak of pre-shared keys, the ignorance or inability of key updating. In order to solve some safety problems related to wireless sensor network, thispaper contributes as following:(1) According to the weakness of session key construction based on node’s ownlocation, this paper proposes a hybrid key management scheme which based onclustered wireless sensor networks. By means of hierarchical idea, the proposedscheme reduces the amount of key storages and computing, while supporting networktopology, dynamic key management for which aims to prevent leakage. Analysisshows that the scheme has certain advantages in key connectivity, security, communication and energy consumption.(2)Based on PEGASIS and COSEN, combining with the behavioralcharacteristics, this paper proposes a new method of key tree organization. The wholenetwork is divided into annular regions according to the distance among nodes andbase stations with the purpose of making the base station center. Each layer of sensornodes forms a cluster. By introducing node behavior characteristic for each clusternode to structure the key tree, data along the key tree by data fusion way to arrive atthe base station. Experimental results show the proposed algorithm has certainadvantages with respect to node survival time, network reconfiguration frequency andcommunication key update overhead comparing with other schemes.
