Millimeter-wave is electromagnetic wave which refers to a wavelength of1to10mm in the frequency domain is30~300GHz, it is located in the microwave and far infrared wave overlapping wavelength range, and has many unique advantages. Millimeter wave theory and technology is the microwave to high frequency to low frequency extension and development of light wave. Millimeter wave vacuum devices and millimeter wave solid state devices is a millimeter wave research two big fields, including radar and guidance systems, electronic warfare, millimeter wave communication, remote sensing, millimeter wave radiometer and the passive millimeter wave imaging.Extended interaction oscillator (EIO) is a millimeter-wave high power, high efficiency of the new millimeter wave radiation sources, has received particular attention in the international arena.This article relates to the research subject is:Learning of8mm EIO. Specific work is as follows:1. To carry out the study of electrical and magnetic properties of the trapezoidal slow-wave structure8mm EIO, including the cyclical nature of the dispersion characteristics of the resonant characteristics.2. To carry out the8mm high-voltage EIO. Through microwave simulation software CST get the dispersion characteristics of the EIO, the coupling impedance and resonant characteristics, and the ideal cold-cavity parameters; through the particle simulation software MAGIC for EIO hot cavity simulation, adjust the working voltage and working current, EIO ultimate stability of output frequency is35GHz, power is higher than1kW, efficiency of9.5%electromagnetic wave.3. To carry out the8mm low-voltage EIO. Design the EIO which has20KV operating voltage:Analysis of the dispersion characteristics of the EIO, the coupling impedance and resonant characteristics and get a more optimized structure parameters. Particle simulation is displayed in the operating voltage of20kV and a current density of100A/cm2, and in about10ns, the EIO get start-up and subsequently reach a steady, average power is only about120W, the electronic efficiency of only2.2%, almost no electronic tuning capability; in order to verify the possibility to further reduce the operating voltage, the voltage reduced to12KV, after the electromagnetic characteristics analysis and particle simulation, when the operating voltage as11.4KV, the current density of100mA/cm2EIO average power of110W, the electronic efficiency of approximately3.8%relative electric tuning bandwidth of3.9%.
