With the development of Information Technology, the technology of Internet of Things has sprung up, which asks for a higher requirement for the quantity, the stability and the instantaneity of information monitoring, both indoor and outdoor. There have appeared various designs for data acquisition system in line with the market demand. However, these systems, which are designed for specific monitoring objects and environment, have not achieved their intended goals, such as the stability and the instantaneity. This paper, on account of the market demand of the present and the development tendency of data acquisition system, will talk about the development of embedded remote data acquisition system for internet of things based on the latest Cortex-m3kernel ARM processor and the stable Ethernet technology. The aim is to provide a design plan for the development of data acquisition and to give an idea to the approach to the short-distance application of Internet of Things perception layer technologies in the future.At first, it makes a brief introduction of the development in the field of data acquisition and the application of Ethernet and ARM processor technology. Then, through analyzing-the Modbus protocol, it talks about the promotion of MAC mechanism algorithms based on the protocol. Meanwhile, with the emulation and the comparison of current backoff algorithms under the condition of Matlab software, it makes a conclusion of advantages of the promoted algorithm of this paper. Next, by analyzing the structure of the system and the required technology, it proposes an overall design plan for the author’s data acquisition system, draws an appropriate schematic for hardware and PCB pictures and gives a plan for the selection of specific device. At last, the part of writing system software, it includes the design of ARM initiator, the design of RS485communication software based on the Modbus protocol and the design of Ethernet communication software.In addition, with the application of the upper machine software to achieve the update and the instantaneity of PC, it makes a result by the examination and analysis of PT100temperature sensor. In the end of this paper, it gives an outlook that the design for the system provides a basis for the development of Internet of Things and technical data acquisition system, such as the design of meteorological data acquisition system, the data acquisition and monitoring of power transmission line and so on.
