With the rapid development of science and communication technology,the performanceof information terminals, such as personal computer,mobile phone,digital product and digitalhousehold, have been greatly improved. People are running for high quality life on intelligentterminals. The development of intelligent house,smart home and information householdsmake living environment become a more important technology platform. Home network,which studies the cooperation and resource sharing among devices, is an important researcharea in those topics. The application of AV embedded terminal becomes the focus ofelectronic manufactures.To reach the goal of resource and service sharing among different multi-media devices indigital home network,this paper aims to implement a UPnP AV architecture based embeddedmulti-media terminal. Firstly,this paper investigates the digital home network, analyzes bothadvantages and disadvantages of some popular home network standards. Secondly, we studythe implement mechanism of the UPnP Protocol, AV architecture based services andcooperation process in detail. Thirdly, we discuss the selection criteria of hardware platformand finally choose SMP8655platform after evaluateing its hardware and software resources.We design a three-layer architecture and clear module interfaces according to high cohesionand low coupling principles,and solve the problems of platform transplantation and mediaplayer development. Fourthly, we implement a UPnP based embedded multi-mediaterminal,including MediaServer, MediaRenderer and ControlPoint, with the feature ofcross-platform by adopting Qt as GUI development language. The system also supportsinfrared control, audio and high-resolution video playing of multiply media formats. Finally,we show test results about vary services provided by the system we purposed with third partyUPnP AV devices.This paper solves the problem of information island among audio and video devices inhome network, and reaches the goal of resource and service sharing among different AVterminals. This research makes people more convenient to enjoy the information service andhas a high commercial value and promising market.
