Frequency selective surface (FSS) is an assembly of identical elements arrangedin a one-or two-dimensional infinite array. This structure has different reflection ortransmission capacity for the electromagnetic waves of different frequencies, it haswide applications in the field of aerospace and radar. In recent years, FSS has becomea major research direction of the microwave and antenna scholars.In this paper,on the basis of analyzing of the FSS technology and methods,using the finite element method with three-dimensional finite element electromagneticsimulation software HFSS(High Frequency Structure Simulator), the following worksare done.In order to research the impact factors of FSS transmission properties, a varietyof units was chosen to study. The results showed that the increase in cell size andloading of the dielectric layer makes the resonant frequency drifting to low frequency,and the impact of the media board dielectric constant than the thickness. With theincreasing of the electromagnetic wave incident angle, the lobes gradually appearsearlier in the low frequency region, makes the resonant frequency drifting to highfrequency, bandwidths decrease, and affect the transmission properties of the FSSseriously.A specific resonant frequency as a design goal, Y shape FSS of the hole unitunilateral and bilateral loading dielectric layer and the double square loop bandpassfilter as examples, established the initial structural model. Finally, the reasonablestructure parameters and the basic electromagnetic parameters are obtained byreasonable parameter optimization.In order to study the impact of the FSS unit of material absorbing properties,thecomposite absorbing structure consist of hexagonal ring FSS unit and absorbingstructure as an example. The most reasonable embedding position of the FSS unit inabsorbing structure is determined through tuning, and the transmission stability undervarious incident angles of TE polarization wave are analyzed. The results show that theFSS unit embedded in a reasonable position in the absorbing structure can greatlyimprove the absorbing properties of composites.In this paper, it designed the effective space model of FSS in electromagneticfield, verified the rationality of the model, and analyzed the influence factors of FSStransmission characteristic, a variety of unit as an example, studies the FSS transmission stability. The study method has important reference value in practicalengineering FSS design and research.
