A Study Of Word Errors In Book Publication

Taking the word errors that appeared in the books specially recommended by the "farm house" of Anhui people’s publishing house as the research object， this paper, from the perspective of philology and publishing, in accordance with the practical proofreading and personnel structure, analyzes the types and causes of them in the book publication and puts forward some appropriate advice of how to control them for your reference.This paper is divided into five chapters as followsThe first chapter for the introduction, outlining the research program, sets forth the relative concepts, to determine the object of study and the source of corpus; and it also accounts for the current situation, perspective and problems of the research of the word errors in the book publication of our country, which purposefully points out that with the wide application of computer technology and the rapid development of the publishing industry in the new era, there are still some problems in the existing research results of word errors, and which will directly affect the overall quality and communication effects of the books.The second chapter for the overview of "errors" in the book publication, introduces the definition and classification of the errors in the publishing industry and explain the special status of word errors compared to the other types of errors, so as to lead to the focus of this paper, the types and causes of word errors.The third and fourth chapters are the key parts, taking the word errors that appeared in the books specially recommended by the "farm house" of Anhui people’s publishing house as examples and analyzing them statistically by sampling survey method and data statistics. The third chapter classifies the types of word errors. according to the word mistakes in the books specially recommended by the "farm house" of Anhui people’s publishing house as the object of proofreading. At first, the wrong words are divided into Chinese characters error and foreign language mistakes, and then subdivided according to the word errors already proofread. The fourth chapter focuses on analyzing the cause of the word errors which is developed from such aspects as the words themselves, technical means, practical proofreading, personnel structure, and norms in publishing industry, and based on the analysis, the cause of word errors is listed. The fifth chapter puts forward controlling countermeasures towards word errors and proposals from those aspects as building proofreading team, perfecting proofreading, applying modern proofreading techniques and so forth. Because the key factor in controlling word errors is the proofreaders, when it comes to the countermeasures, the construction of proofreading team should be given special focus. This paper, as an applied one, in which the proposal puts forward are expected to be adopted by those publishing enterprises and to promote the development of our country’s book publishing cause healthier and faster.An important guiding ideology for academic writing is the full possession of corpus and scientifically reasonable analysis. This paper in the research methods strives for the combination of quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis, static investigation and dynamic analysis together, to make sufficient lists, clear explanation and thorough analysis.
