Video surveillance system is widely used in all walks of life. Real-time, all-weather intelligent monitoring is of great importance to the safety of people’s life and property, especially for special occasions. With the development of embedded technology and internet, embedded video surveillance system with network functions is booming rapidly. The research is carried out around network video surveillance equipment with intelligent alarm system on an embedded hardware platform. The specific contents are as follows:1. The design of the frame of the whole system. TQ2440development board is selected as the hardware platform of the system. Through the comparison of the advantages and disadvantages of different choices, U-boot and Linux operating system are selected as the software platform, and they are transplanted to TQ2440. The root file system is created and YATFFS2, NFS file system are supported.2. The building of the framework of video capture device drivers. The built-in V4L2drivers in Linux kernel are researched, and the program of video collection is finished. The video network transmission program is based on the socket, and a synchronous mechanism is designed for multi-client access.3. The realization of web remote monitoring. The principles and workflows of the embedded web server were described in detail, and BOA server is transplanted to the hardware platform. The homepage of the server is set up by HTML and CSS. The program of receiving and displaying video is based on Java Applet, and it is embedded into the homepage, which realizes the function of video transmission between embedded platform and web clients and video display in web page.4. The detection of motion and the implementation of alarm system. The algorithm of motion detection based on background difference is improved, and the application program is developed by OpenCV and the improved algorithm. Madplay is transplanted to the system in order to realize alarm.5. Finally, the whole system is tested and validated.In this paper, a remote web video monitoring system is implemented on a hardware platform composed by a cost-effective embedded processor. The system will alarm automatically when moving target is detected and it is valuable to engineering application.
