In the modern bridge design, with the idea that people ask for benefit from the space,bridge site is no longer limited to common plain or river, but to the mountain, canyon,great river and sea. Because the traditional construction technology such as full support isvery difficult to be implemented in these sites, therefore needs the bridge designers towork out more design methods, in order to achieve building bridges in these harshconditions. In this case, continuous beam bridge and the pier girder consolidation bridgeemerge as the times require.The so-called pier girder consolidation system is the rigid frame system that bridge’sgirder consolidated with pier with lower stiffness due to longer length. As a result of piergirder consolidation system has the features that piers are flexible and main girders arecontinuous, which will make the bridge could use the displacement in the horizontaldirection to offset part of temperature stress and shrinkage and creep effect. And thesystem would use pivot point’s negative bending moment to reduce middle span’smaximum positive moment, so we can obviously reduce the girder size and make bridge’smodeling more smooth and beautiful at the same time.It is precisely because of the pier girder consolidation bridges’ extensive applications,this kind bridge is no longer confined to high pier and girder consolidated directly. As theproject referred in the paper, pier girder consolidation system is connected by cap-beams,whose main girder is hollow slab beam. Due to the involvement of the main girder,cap-beam’s applied force section will be changed. Therefore, we cannot take the sectionsize of actual construction to calculate cap-beam in this kind. Otherwise, it will not onlyreduce the line stiffness ratio between cap-beam and pier of rigid frame bridge, but alsoinvisibly waste material and increase the project cost.The main purpose of this paper is to find out the level that main beam join incap-beam stress, taking the above structure composed with hollow slab beams (pier girderconsolidation system) as a model, through the actual modeling comparative analysis. And calculate the cap-beam’s effective calculation section of pier girder consolidation system,in order to find out more reasonable design scheme of this kind bridge’s cap-beam, morewidely used in bridge construction and promote such a cap-beam’s application in piergirder consolidation bridge.
