By extensive researches and practical applications, modern electroplating industry has proved that the bipolar pulse power supply applied to functional electroplating, can not only make the plating layer have more excellent physical and chemical properties, but also improve the plating rate, reduce energy consumption and the amount of metal. In current market, bipolar pulse power performance is limited. For example output power is small, the output parameters adjustability and accuracy is not very good. Therefore it can only be applied on some small plating object. Therefore, developing a adjustability, high output precision high power bipolar pulse power is necessary.Combined circuit form is used to organize the bipolar pulse power main circuit, and phase-shifted full-bridge converter is used as the main power conversion to get low voltage and high current DC power supply. A H-bridge chopper is designed to cut DC source output into pulse form. SolidWorks3-D software is used to design the power structure, and FLOTHERM thermal analysis software is used to optimize the power supply structure respectively. Eventually a bipolar pulse power supply prototype is created.According to the main circuit form, a suitable control strategy for the bipolar pulse power is proposed. Make the H-bridge chopper circuit working state as control starting point, then control system decide which one PS-FB-ZVS converter work or stop. PI controllers are used to control PS-FB-ZVS converters, so that the power can run in constant voltage mode or constant current mode. TMS320F28335is chosen as system’s core chip. Control program developed with CCS3.3soft platform is used to realize the power of digital control.At last, a prototype of bipolar pulse power supply has been established for experiment. The power supply runs in DC, unipolar pulse and bipolar pulse modes. The experimental results show that the power supply can work stability, and it has high output precision and good dynamic performance.
