Surface net radiation is the driving force of surface energy, matters transfer andexchange between the surface and the atmosphere, and it is the main reason of climatechange. The energy balance between Surface and air is a main point of global climate changeresearch. Researches on the spatial distribution and time variation of surface radiation energybudget have very important significance on meteorology. Surface shortwave net radiation isan important part of surface net radiation, this paper is research on it.The conventional methods for estimating surface net radiation rely on broadbandsatellite data with lower spatial resolution. With the launch of the satellite in every country, inrecent years, some scholars have been estimating surface net radiation use the high spatialresolution hyperspectral data. Consider of the spatial, temporal and spectral resolution, aswell as some previous research, this paper use MODIS/Aqua data as data source to estimatethe net surface shortwave radiation.Through amount of data simulation and verification, we get an effective method toestimate net surface shortwave radiation use MODIS/Aqua data. In order to verify theaccuracy of this method, the net surface shortwave radiation estimated from MODIS/Aquadata was compared with the measurements data at seven sites of the SURFRAD (SurfaceRadiation Budget Network) in the United States, and the RMSE(root mean square error) is95.6W/m2. We analyzed the factors of cloud, SZA, VZA, RAA and water precipitation thataffect the validation results. The results show that the retrieval accuracy of the net surfaceshortwave radiation is an integrated result of all factors, not caused due to a factor separate.
