With the development of the shipping industry, the safety of the ship has been paidmore and more attentions. Ship level is an important reference standard in the shippingsafety. Ship’s real cargo tonnage can be got through the level detection.On one hand Ultrasonic ranging has a strong anti-interference ability, and on theother hand the ultrasonic sensor has simple structure, and easy for integration, ultrasonicranging was used to detect ship level. Based on the ultrasonic ranging maritime safetysystem project of Chongqing Royal Technology Ltd., ship level detection system wasresearched in this paper.The main contents as the follows:①The basic principles and methods of ultrasonic ranging were studied.②The overall system was designed, incuding hardware circuit and softwaredesign.ATmega48, produced by the ATMEL Corporation, was choosen as the microprocessor.In the filter and amplification module, second order negative feedback active band-passfilter circuit was desiged. Besides, temperature sensor was applied to compensateTemperatures for getting accurant velocity. In addition, LGSN protocol was applied tothe communication with PC.③Through the system test, the measured results meet the project requirements. Atlast, analysing the reasons of the error.The desigened ship level detection system has the advantages of small size, lightweight as well as high-accuracy, and satisfies the demands of the project.
