Nowadays, competition in the automobile industry tends to sharply,the manufacturer in order to improve the competitiveness of the products, and occupy the market rapidly, it is necessary to develop a high-quality of new model in the shortest time, but how to design and develop a new products quickly,the goal is the manufacturers continue to pursue. With the development of CAD technology and its wide range of applications in the automobile industry, the speed and quality of the design and development is effectively improved, but the traditional product’s design and development process is repetitive model for each standard, for the developers, their workload and work intensity are soaring, so their efficiency is not high undoubtedly, build a standard parts library is a efficient and effective way,it can reduce design and development time, develop a new qualified products in the shortest time.Firstly,this paper introduced the CAD technology, described the significance of build the3D standard parts library for automobile and its development status, introduce the four of UG development tools and the methods of build standard parts library,determine a method used in building library.Secondly,according to the analysis of the demand function, determine the architecture of the system and its various functional modules; the system database design process:conceptual design, logical design and physical design. Introduce three methods of data access, and determine the ADO as data access method.Finally, we illustrate the establishment process of the standard model and data tables, and the construction of the system framework.discusses the MFC used on the UG software and the VC++programming to realizate a dynamic tree control. Demonstrates the process of the3D standard parts library system run in the computer.According to "automobile design standard information manual’,develop the3D standard parts library system for automobile based on UG software,this system used UG NX5.0as the platform and Visual C++6.0as development tools, ACCESS2003as database system, the system using twostory C/S structure, the database access using ADO data access method, study related technologies about build the system, and have developed the3D standard parts library system for automobile.
