The wedding ceremony is the symbol of an etiquette which stands for the change of one’s life stage. It plays a very important role in human various culture system. Although the wedding ceremony has universal, it doesn’t mean that each ethnic group holds the same concept and ceremony for marriage; that is to say, different races have different marriage culture.Bafang, in Linxia, which has a rich history, is famous for its culture characteristic with Chinese Islam. The population of the area lives relative concentration and Muslims are multitudinous. At the same time, its religious culture atmosphere is very deep. Islamic culture is guiding the wedding ceremony of Bafang people and bearing the rules of behavior of Islamic culture. Therefore, this article takes Hui nationality’s in Bafang, Linxia as a starting point, because it is more typical and representative. In the terms of anthropology, we made a vertical comparison between the traditional wedding ceremony in1950s and the current wedding ceremony. We obtained the first-hand materials about nearly half a century’s wedding ceremony of cultural change factors based on field-work, participant-observation and depth-interviews. Amoy the contrast of wedding ceremony change factors, we found the wedding ceremony of Bafang people includes many change factors, such as matchmaker role weakening, sectarian marriage tending to fade, but Hui nationality’s marriage culture based on Islamic culture as the kernel is the very important cultural mechanism and ethnic boundary of Bafang people in Linxia. With the development of society, Bafang people’s wedding culture not only constantly merges with modern culture, but also still keeps its own unique geographical religious culture characteristics. In the domestic, the research for Hui nationality’s wedding customs is the process of the shallow surface; on the contrary, the research for key cultural elements in wedding ceremony is less relevant.
