Education, as a fundamental task crucial for generations to come, is the cornerstone of national revival; and fairness of education is the important foundation of social justice and the significant benchmark of social civilization progress. Since the foundation of new China, especially since reform and opening to the outside world, the education cause of China has been developing continuously and has made delectable performance, however, with the deepening of reform as well as social transformation and change, unfairness in education remains in existence to a large extent, particularly in rural education.China is a developing country where80%population are living in the rural area, so the rural education is concerned with social justice and is of vital importance to the construction of harmonious society and building of a powerful and prosperous nation as well as scientific and sustainable development. It is also of great significance to exploring and reflecting on the cause of and the countermeasure against China’s rural education. This Paper focuses on revealing the unfairness existed in China’s rural education from the unfairness in the origin of education, education process and education results based on the comprehensively exploring the connotation and feature of education fairness as well as the meaning and content of the unfairness in rural education, and analyzes the cause of unfairness in rural education from the following perspectives: urban orientation in education policies; tremendous difference in urban and rural economic foundation; unreasonable of governmental legislation and delay in lawmaking; insufficient investment in rural education; uncommitted compulsory education policy. Eventually, specific to the phenomena and causes of unfairness in rural education, this Paper proposes several feasible measures in promoting education fairness:expediting legislation, scientifically planning the contribution of governmental authorities of all levels to education; positively exploring new education regime; improving the rural teachers’ capability; focusing attention on the education of children of floating population; and keeping a watchful eye on rural university. I hope that my exploration and reflection can play a beneficial role in promoting education fairness. This is my cherished desire.
