After putting forward the innovative programs for graduateeducation in2002, the Ministry of Education announced the documentnamed Ministry of Education’s opinions on the implementation ofinnovation program on graduate education, the enhancement of thetraining on graduate students’ innovative abilities, and the furtherimprovement the educational qualities, which re-emphasized theimportance of training the innovative ability. Considering these, basedon the relevant theories concerning philosophy, creatology, psychology,logic, education, systems science and so on, this thesis tries to explainthe essence, content and impact of graduate students’ innovativeabilities from the perspective of Chinese graduate students’ innovativeabilities. Also, this thesis compares and analyzes the level of graduatestudents’ innovative abilities through questionnaire to explore the negative factors influencing the training of the innovative ability as wellas the internal and external conditions for innovative ability training.The result shows that the low level of graduate students’ innovativeabilities can be attributed to the professional theoretical knowledge andthe potential innovative ability (innovative quality). They cannot applythe knowledge in the practice and lack the capacity to create in practice;there are significant differences of the students in professionalknowledge, real innovative ability and potential innovative ability ofdifferent genders, different professions, different grades, different typesof schools and different school levels. Finally, this thesis puts forwardmeasures and suggestions on perfecting and setting up the long-termmechanism to train our countries’ graduate students’ innovative abilitiesby combining with the real conditions of graduate students’ innovativeabilities.
