Literacy is the important ability which people use to learn a language and to express themselves. Through reading and writing text, people can obtain knowledge, inheritance civilization and exchange interaction. The emergence of computer and internet makes people being diversified in cognition, communication, and express tools. Dissemination of information no longer simply depends on words. Pictures, flash, sounds, multimedia forms and network language which is different of general language became the mainstream in appearing knowledge and spreading information in information age. The emergence of the hypertext changed people’s consistent linear reading way inspires people’s nonlinear associate thinking. The emergence of the information technology not only changed people’s perception, communication, even affected all aspects of people’s lives, just rely on reading text, to remember English words, and other ways to cognitive language, transfer information obviously can’t adapt to the needs of the information age. So I think literacy just not only care about individual’s ability of reading and writing, still should focus on the individual’s ability of obtaining information, cognitive, understanding and expressing. I think whether text, picture, audio or animation its essence is "symbol", people not only to know or understand symbols, but also learn how to use symbols to express. This paper based on the information age, as the connotation of consciousness for the center, surrounding the consciousness of the training of the various aspects of the preliminary research and discussion.Chapter I:This chapter mainly including how to put forward the research problem, what is the implications of the research, the research present situation of literacy, and which method I used in the paper.Chapter II:This chapter mainly analysis the theory about the text at home and abroad research, from the point of view in connotation of the text, text reading theory, significance of text to analysis the reading which uses the text as the main object, summarizes the connotation of the ability of reading and writing in the traditional cultural perspective.Chapter IV:This chapter to the changes of reading object in the information age, compare hypertext, network language, multimedia to traditional text in form, content, culture and effects on learners’reading, induces the connotation of consciousness in information age.Chapter IV:According to hypertext, network language and multimedia forms for the foothold, discussing people’s ability of obtaining information, cognitive, understanding, symbols of perception, and the expression ability, summarizing how to train people’s literacy in the information environment.Chapter V:This chapter mainly summarizes the result of this paper, based on the study of the process on some disadvantages.
