Brain-computer interface, a new type of human-computer interaction, has built up acommunicating way between human and computers without movement or language bycollecting and analyzing EEG signals. However, the EEG acquisition systems arerelatively bulky and inconvenient for the applications of brain-computer interface. Thispaper presents a design and realization of a wireless portable EEG acquisition systembased on embedded systems. The system can be divided into two parts, the transmitting part and the receivingand monitoring part. The transmitting part consist an8-channel analog amplifier and a2.4GHz nRF24E1wireless communication module. nRF24E1contains a51corecontroller, which controls the multiplexer, the circle collection of EEG signal and thetransmitting of the data package. In the receiving and monitoring part, another nRF24E1received the data package and passed to the ARM processor. The ARM processordisplayed the collected EEG signal on the LCD screen and restored in the USB flashdisk. The Bootloader was composed independently on the ARM processor platform. Then the Linux OS was transplanted. Finally some drivers and QT application programswere completed. A system was built up including hardware and software. In order to verify the performance of the system, a subject opened and closed hiseyes to do some experiments which related to alpha waves. The results meet the a prioriphysiological knowledge. So it can be concluded that this system can be used forbrain-computer interface or clinical applications.
