Background:Atopic cough (AC) is one of etiology of the chronic cough, and also one of the allergic diseases. In recent years, with environment pollution and climate degeneration, number of respiratory allergies is growing; meanwhile, the rate of atopic cough is gradually increasing. AC has a long-lasting course, and makes an terrible effect on quality of patients’life, which has caused a worldwide public attention.Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has made tremendous progress in treatment of atopic cough, reflecting the advantage of syndrome differentiation of TCM. But on the current situation, the researches have limited to the clinical effect reports, merely personal views, and not formed a unified system of theory. It is not seen studies on TCM syndrome pattern of atopic cough using modern epidemiological methods so far. Objective:By the modern epidemiological methods, combined with basic theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the clinical study is to investigate the TCM syndrome features of atopic cough, and summarize the syndrome patterns. It will enrich the theory of TCM, give guidance of diagnosis and improve the clinical effect. Methods:According to basic theory of TCM, modern epidemiological methods are applied to set up a database and analyze the syndrome features of atopic cough. Clinical information collection table of atopic cough is made to investigate the general information and four diagnostic methods of TCM of patients. The observation is analyzed by epidemiological methods to summarize the TCM syndrome pattern of atopic cough.Specifically, collect68cases of atopic cough randomly, investigate the medical history, symptoms, physical signs and auxiliary examination carefully, use Epidata3.1to set up a database, and then make usage of SPSS19.0to descriptive analysis, frequency analysis, and clustering analysis, and make a summary of TCM syndrome patterns of atopic cough. Results: 68cases of atopic cough through clinical research permits pending the preliminary analysis:Male (38.24%):Female (61.76%)=1:1.62. Average age:(45.93±1.677), dominated by young and mid-age,85.2%. Occupation:workers61.8%, the largest proportion. Predispositions of single double and multiple causes amount to95.6%. Frequency symptoms in more than50%, followed by cough (100%), throat itch (95.6%), throat drying (80.9%), thirst (70.6%), less sputum (67.6%), shortness of breath (55.9%), chest tightness and pains (54.4%), throat congestion (50.0%). The tongue:reddish (27.9%), dark red (26.5%), red (19.1%), light dark (19.1%), dark purple (7.4%). There are mainly two furs of tongue: thin white fur (52.9%) and thin yellow fur (32.4%). Main pulse:thread pulse (41.2%), string and slipper pulse (25.0%). The basic interpretation of the causes is wind attacking lung. On this basis, the cases are divided into4syndrome patterns:wind-cold attacking lung, wind-hot attacking lung, wind-dry attacking lung and lung Qi deficiency. Conclusion:The incidence of the disease in terms of gender is not statistically significant, and the incidence of all ages in the non-discrimination between male and female. The age of onset is concentrated in young and mid-age, and workers are much easier to be attack. It has a long-lasting course and easily relapses, with some of atopic factors. The basic interpretation of the causes is wind attacking lung. On this basis, The cases are divided into4syndrome patterns:wind-cold attacking lung, wind-hot attacking lung, wind-dry attacking lung and lung Qi deficiency.
