China is a county with large grassland resources, all kinds of natural grassland account more than40%of total land area. At this stage, due to the uncoordination between grassland animal husbandry development and grassland production capacity, grassland ecological environment is getting worse, the countries have attached great importance to this problem, ecological compensation and related ecological restoration projects and policies were carried out gradually.Ecological compensation is a new type means of protecting ecological environment appeared in recent years. The theory and practice of ecological compensation is seldom used in China, and related research is particularly weak.In this paper, data about grassland use status and herdsman research in Xianghuang banner of Xilin Gol Grassland were analyzed. Using a large number of ground monitoring data information to extract remote sensing information of grassland types, different grassland types were statistically analyzed using relevant software and methods, then, we can get different grassland productivity models in recent years, and determine the appropriate stocking rate,The influence of current ecological compensation policy to pastoralists living was analyzed under the livestock balance system. The results show that:1.There are2grass class and9grass types in Xianghuang banner, using the corresponding yield estimation model we Calculated the theoretical carrying capacity in2008, which is0.9hectares of pasture for a sheep unit.2we investigate60herdsman family using questionnaire in Xianghuang banner, data show that:herdsman’s per capita income is14003.2Yuan, per capita expenditure is11912.5yuan in20083.Existing ecological compensation policy is still inadequate subsidies, it is even more difficult for the pastoralists’ income of herders. The results showed that grassland ecological compensation intensity in the study area should subsidize the standard of8.37yuan/mu. Only in respect of the current data, the livestock balance policy of1.71yuan per mu is slightly insufficient.
