A new multi-layer frame-bent industrial building appears in the south and middle of Jiangsu Province. In this structure, the roofs consist of precast prestressed concrete saddle plates, and the other floors consist of precast prestressed concrete double-T plates. The two kinds of plates are linked to lengthwise frame beams by embedded parts welding, and the sidewise frames are designed with certain distance in the lengthwise direction. According to the investigations and studies, this kind of structure, compared with that of traditional industrial plants, can help us to save about30%of construction cost, more than30%of steel, and50%of wood. But so far there has been few research on the seismic performance of this new structure of multi-layer frame-bent industrial plant in our earthquake-prone country, where the earthquakes are frequent and strong and the seismic regions are capacious and disperse. Therefore, researches on the new structure of multi-layer frame-bent industrial plants under3-dimensional earthquakes have a great realistic meaning to the social development and construction enterprise of our country. In this paper, we adopt the finite element software ANSYS to simulate the general structure of the new multi-layer frame-bent industrial plant and the new structure of multi-layer frame-bent industrial plant with dampers on it (the precast prestressed concrete saddle plate and precast prestressed concrete double-T plate are linked to lengthwise frame beams by embedded parts welding), and we carry on dynamic time history analyses on the structures under3-dimensional frequently and rarely occurred earthquakes, and we come to some conclusions as follows:1. Compared with the general structure, the first6orders of the frequency of the new structure with dampers are all30%lower. Its period increases at the same time, and the fundamental period changes from0.932s to1.367s.2. In the general structure under3-dimensional frequently occurred earthquakes, the responses of some parts in the lengthwise direction are more obvious than those in the sidewise direction, which explains that the effect of lengthwise earthquake except for that of sidewise earthquake should be taken into consideration when structural design and seismic design are conducted on some frame-bent structures. Meanwhile we know that the vertical displacements of each floor of the structure under frequently occurred earthquakes are all very small and range from0.04mm to0.07mm, which are only1%-2%of the horizontal displacements and may have little effect on the structure. 3. Through the analyses of the general structure and the new structure with dampers of multi-layer frame-bent industrial plant under3-dimensional frequently and rarely occurred earthquakes, we know that in the structure with dampers, the horizontal displacements, the shear forces and the angles of floor displacement in the lengthwise and sidewise direction all decrease in different degrees, which proves the damping effect of the structure with dampers.4. Through the analyses of the general structure of multi-layer frame-bent industrial plant under1-dimensional and3-dimensional frequently and rarely occurred earthquakes, we know that the responses of it under3-dimensional earthquakes are more or less larger than the responses under1-dimensional earthquakes, and average amplification is21.90%, which illustrates that the effect of3-dimensional earthquake except for that of1-dimensional earthquake on structures should be taken into consideration when seismic design is conducted on some structures.
