As the originator of the metaphysical poetry, John Donne’s poetry writing reflect the characteristics of the integration of "Sense and Sensibility". His religious poetry is full of affection for God,full of painful struggle and reflection on his own resort to renegade Catholic.He even regards God as his lover and express love to God. His love poems full of rational and critical preaching and discussion.His pursuing for the secular Divine Love makes full of the rift left by his religious faith in the love life. After I explore these features of the poetry of Donne, in the final chapter will discuss the role played by the cutting creative features of this Sense and Sensibility in English literature and its significance.
