For Irish Catholics,the19th century is an extraordinary period. At the Native Ireland,the Protestant ruler made a series of penal law to limited the Catholics, deprived of theirbeliefs and the right of life, has been expulsion from their own land. For the reason, theconflicts and contradicts between Catholics and Protestant has occurred occasionally, theCatholic opposition activities in the parliament, national movement and other forms, but thestress didn’t relieve.Mid-19th century, Ireland has experienced the great famine, a largenumber of Catholics emigrated to the U.S. for survive.In American, Protestant play a rule of society, the contradicts and conflicts betweenCatholic and Protestant is not obvious. After a long-term development, the Catholicsgradually integrated into American society and have an affect on political, economic, culturalof American society. Through the comparison of two geographical space, the changingrelationship of Catholicism and Protestantism, the article tries to find out possible ways ofcommunication and dialogue between different religions, different sects.In this paper the main body is divided into four parts, the first part of the Irish Catholictradition, the Anglican communion rulers suppress the policy in force against Irish Catholicsand the movement of Catholics in order to resist the oppressive rule.The second part describes the background and process of the mid-19th century IrishCatholic immigrants to the United States. The arrival of a large number of Catholicimmigrants to American society caused some impact, especially in culture, appeared rejectionmovement between catholic and protestant.The third section describes the relationship between the Protestant and the CatholicChurch in the United States. Drawing on experience in the native, Irish Catholics graduallyintegrated into American society by improving their level of themselves, participation in thecountry’s political in peaceful ways has changed the situation of exclusion, and thedevelopment of American society produced an incredible impact.The fourth section summarizes the change of the Catholics whom Emigrated to the U.S.before and after, Catholics not only attaches importance to its own strength and also aim toimprove the status of Catholics in American society, Catholics got more rights in peacefulways and participate in political.Finally, in conclusion, try to advanced some suggestions and opinions of the peacefulcoexistence between different religions and different sects.
