The film elements integrated into the writing of the novels, is one of the notable features of the writer’s works. Cinema, in its development process, has formed with Literature a mutual influence, mutual penetration of relationship that provides the feasibility of using the theory of intertextuality to study the novels of Munoz Molina. Based on the intertextuality between Literature and Cinema, in this paper we select three representative works of this writer (Beltenebros, Winter in Lisboa and Full Moon) to take the study of text analysis. Considering the cinematic elements in Munoz Molina’s fiction (including the film noir, mirror, flashback, chiaroscuro, background music, subjective shot, etc.) as intertextual components, we intend to explain the role played by them in the literary creation of this writer.Te present thesis identifies that the application of the cinematic elements in Munoz Molina’s novels is deeply rooted in the prevailing social and cultural background. Throughout the Spanish literature after1975, a series of novels by the film affect have been published. It is the results of the social change of the contemporary Spanish society, and also the product of exchange and infiltration between different cultures. With the development of society, the boundaries between different types of cultures have been breaking down gradually, and the artistic creation has launched a new prospect. The employment of cinematic elements has been able to enrich the literary creation because of the characteristics of the film itself. The cinema language is not arbitrary, but flexible. With the help of audio-visual features and other technologies, the cinema extends the meaning of literary works into a wilder area. In Munoz Molina’s novels, the use of cinematic elements has contributed to shaping a person’s character, reproducing the movie space and scenes, processing the time, creating the atmosphere, and to the establishment of the reader’s subjective perspective. Therefore, it has enhanced the relationship between the reader and the writer, as well as the reader and the works. First of all, the application of the cinematic elements has made the description of the novel more vivid, more helpful to the reader’s understanding. Secondly, it has promoted their participation, enthusiasm and creativity. And finally, it has built a bridge between the author and the reader, arousing the reader’s complicity with the author. To sum up, the employment of cinematic elements in Munoz Molina’s novels is the practice of his idea "reader first", so that the reader has become the subject of the literary creation.
