| ObjectiveTo observe the changes of transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β) expression and the rule of the schwann cells proliferation after rabbit facial nerve crushed injury and to learn about the mechanism and the correlate of TGF-βand Schwann cells in facial nerve injury and repairMethodsTwenty-four rabbits were used. The facial nerves were curshed with a special clamp. The histology and immunohistochemistry examination were performed respectively after1d,3d,7d,14d,21d,28d injury.ResultsOn3th day after injury, the TGF-β antibody in crushed facial nerve was positively expressed.and the Schwann cells increased, with the number of105.0±9.8; On7th day after injury, the Schwann cells increased greatly and the TGF-Pexpression enhanced, with the number of158.0±12.1. On14th day after injury, the expression of TGF-β decreased gradually and the Schwann cells no increasing, with the number of136.0±9.1. On21th day after injury, the Schwann cells and the TGF-Pexpression was decreased greatly, with the number of109.0±5.2; On28th day after injury, The Schwann cells and the TGF-Pexpression continued to decreased, near to normal.with the number of85.0±9.9.ConclusionsThe TGF-β participates in the pathologic process of facial nerve damage, and correlate to the proliferation of Schwann cells. |
