Objective: To analyze the factors influencing the mortality in elderlypatients with hip fracture to establish the theoretic and provide a guide for afurther improvement of curative effect.Methods:183cases of elderly patients(aged60and above)with hipfractures treated in our hospital from January2004to January2008were befollowed-up. The clinical data were collected for statistical analysis inorder toanalyse the factors affecting the mortality of these groups. The factors analysedinclude age, sex, type of fracture, complications before injury, the ability to walkbefore injury, therapies, timing of surgery, anesthesia measures, thecomplications after injury, osteoporosis treatment. All the predictive risk factorswere dealt with χ2test and multivariate Logistic regression analysis. Results: The factors which have significant influence on the outcome of theone-year mortality(With p<0.05)include the age, the complications before injury, the ability to walk before injury, therapies, the complications after injury, osteoporosis treatment. The factors which have signifycant influence on thefive-year mortality include the age, sex, the complications before injury, theability to walk before injury, therapies, the complications after injury. Themultivariate Logistic regression analysis shows that the independent risk factors affecting the one-year mortality of the eldery hip fracture are age and therapies, and that the independent risk factors affecting the five-year mortality are age andthe complications before injury. Conclusions: Multiple factors lead to high mortality in the elderly patientswith hip fractures, the importance of those factors affecting the mortality shouldbe more emphasized. We have to pay attention to the advanced age patients withdisease assessment, improve the treatment of men with compliance, positive forthe complications before injury, as far as possible to create the conditions of thesurgery, choose the right operation time, the right anesthesia method and theoperation method, improve the condition of the complication after injury andbody status before operation, give standard treatment for osteoporosis, in orderto reduce the mortality and improve the quality of life of the elderly patientswith hip fracture.
