Study On The Development Status And Strategies Approaches Of The Traditional Chinese Medical Institutions In Chongqing

Traditional Chinese medicine with its characteristics of simplicity,convenience, effectiveness, cheapness and naturalness plays a pivotal rolein the medical and health services. So it has always been given highlyattention by the central and local governments. The construction ofRegional Health Center and Healthy Chongqing provides goodopportunities for the development of the cause of the traditional Chinesemedicine. Chongqing is a young municipality with big cities, rural areasand big reservoir area, and it’s the epitome of the status of development inurban and rural areas in China. So in order to adapt to the social economicdevelopment and people’s health needs, it has important realistic meaningand theoretical significance to carry out an extensive and systematicresearch into TCM institutions development status and strategies inChongqing.Through sampling investigation in eight different economic level andrepresentative districts and counties, and the methods of archival research,questionnaire survey, expert interview and SWOT analysis etc., this article makes comprehensive analysis from different angles to the operation statusof TCM institutions and their future trends in Chongqing. And according tothe situation, it puts forward preliminary policy suggestions and referencefor the next development of TCM career.The content of this article is divided into six parts for research andanalysis. Part One expounds the background, methods and significance ofTCM institutions research in Chongqing. Through the retrospect of TCMinstitutions planning study’s theory background, and the analysis of thecurrent TCM institutions’ status of development at home and abroad, thearticle ascertains the background factors and research significance of TCMinstitutions research in Chongqing. Part Two makes layered and classifieddescriptions to the TCM institutions’ operation status. The analysis showsthat unreasonable structures of the TCM is the chief problem, grassrootsChinese medicine is a weak point in the current development, and there aremany disadvantages in Chinese medicine scientific research, education andmanagement etc. Through SWOT analysis, Part Three concludes that thedevelopment of TCM institutions in Chongqing has advantages of superioreconomic geography conditions, complete medical service system and itsown characteristics of TCM etc., at the same time, it has the disadvantagesof imbalanced allocation of resources, low quality of the employees andweak research level etc., the opportunities of powerful policy environmentand increasing service needs etc., and the threats of westernization of TCM and talent supply etc. Part Four and Part Five separately make surveys andanalysis to residents and physicians, and it turns out that people haveproblems of blindness to go to a doctor and little knowledge about TCM,and the physicians have problems of lack of confidence in TCM and lowutilization rate of Chinese medicine etc. And the preliminary suggestionsare presented. Part Six mainly puts forward the relevant countermeasuresand suggestions to kinds of problems of TCM institutions in Chongqing,for example, setting up a leading group of TCM with medicine, educationand research together, highlighting the advantages to develop the hospitalof TCM in areas and counties, making TCM work in basic medical andpublic health, enriching TCM talent team and strengthening theconstruction Chinese medical culture.
