| This study explores the problem of damp-heat in spleen and stomach among Taiwanese people and proposes related prevention and health cultivation and care methods in order to improve the quality of life.Due to the rapid socio-economic development and change of life and cultural style, people’s physical and mental health is seriously affected by competitive pressure. Since the spleen and stomach provide the material basis of the acquired constitution, only when one has a healthy spleen and stomach, does he or she meet the basic requirements for enjoying a quality of life.The development of damp-heat in pleen and stomach mainly involves such factors as congenital constitution, environmental influence, and postnatal lifestyle and diet. Living under the environment of Taiwan that features hot and wet weather, Taiwanese people tend to suffer from health problems concerning damp-heat in spleen and stomach. Therefore, this study aims to probe into the cause of damp-heat in spleen and stomach.With the promotion of living standard and plenty of fine delicacies in Taiwan, many people have long established unhealthy eating habits, such as consuming too much spicy and greasy "Feigan Atsumi" and ice-cold drinks, which cause endogenous dampness pathogen and chronic dyspepsia converting into pathogenic heat due to the impairment of the spleen-yang and speen’s failure in transformation, leading to dysfunction of zang-fu organs. In milder situations, this may contribute to a damp-heat in spleen and stomach constitution, while in more serious situations, syndromes of damp-heat in spleen and stomach may occur. Therefore, Taiwanese people are prone to suffer from damp-heat in spleen and stomach related diseases.Emphasizing preventive treatment of disease and the concept of "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure", Traditional Chinese Medicine gives priority to cultivating health to prevent diseases. Therefore, this study aims to probe into the problem of damp-heat in spleen and stomach among Taiwanese people and propose related prevention and health cultivation and care methods. |
