Clinical Study On Characteristics Of Post-stroke Epileptic Seizures With Combination Of Traditional Chinese And Westenr Medicine

Objective: To investigate the clinical characteristics of post-stroke epileptic seizuresfrom the traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine angles respectively.Methods: We chose1936patients of stroke treated in the second affiliated hospital ofShandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January1,2006to December1,2010and collected their related clinical information. The data of104patients withsecondary epileptic seizure were retrospectively analyzed to find out the clinicalcharacteristics of post-stroke epileptic seizures.Results: The incidence of post-stroke epileptic seizures is5.41%(104/1921). Theincidence of epileptic seizures after Hemorrhagic Stroke and Ischemic stroke isrespectively10.72%(37/345) and4.25%(67/1576). The incidence of epileptic seizures withthe involving location of cortex and subcortex is respectively7.98%(55/689) and4.63%(70/1511). Among104patients of post-stroke epileptic seizures,59.68%(37/62) hadearly-onset in2weeks and40.32%(25/62) had late-onset after2weeks.62.46%(66/104) ofthe104cases were generalized seizures. The incidence of epileptic seizures after "zhongjing luo" Stroke and "zhong zang fu" stroke is respectively3.81%(63/1655) and15.41%(67/1655). The incidence of epileptic seizures after "yuan qi bai tuo" stroke,"tanmeng qing qiao" stroke,"tan re nei bi" stroke and "yin xu feng dong" stroke istrespectively16.33%(8/49),16.30%(15/92),14.40%(18/125) and14.29%(16/112). Theincidence of above-mentioned Syndromes is higher than "tan yu zu luo" stroke,"qi xu xueyu" stroke and "feng huo shang rao" stroke. Conclusion:Stroke with the involving location of cortex caused more seizures, and the incidence of post-stroke epileptic seizures is the highest with the involving location of temporal lobe. Most of the104patients had epileptic seizures in2weeks mainly with generalized seizures. From the view of TCM, among the104cases "tan yu zu luo" stroke had the greatest proportion. Epileptic seizures after "yuan qi bai tuo" stroke,"tan meng qing qiao" stroke,"tan re nei bi" stroke and "yin xu feng dong" stroke occupied the higher proportion than other syndromes.
