Background: Esophageal cancer is one of common malignant tumors in our country.Early esophageal cancer always do not show some obvious symptoms. Most patientsdo not pay attention and delay treatment so that patient’s condition has come to themiddle and late development when most patients go to see the doctor. Because of poorprognosis, the5-year survival rate in patients with advanced cancer is less than10%.With the development of inspection methods, tumor markers become an importantsupplementary examination. By testing the existence or content of tumor makers, itcan provide some help for cancer diagnosis, analyzing clinical significance of tumor, judging the effect of therapy. Objective:To preliminary investigate the clinical significance and resent effectrelationship of detecting serum CYFRA21-1,SCCA of patients with esophagealcancer between pre-radiotherapy and after-radiotherapy.Methods:85eases of esophageal carcinoma patient were collected in LianyungangNo.2Hospital from December,2009to November,2010. Serum levels ofCYFRA21-1of85cases of esophageal cancer patients had been tested byelectrochemical luminescence immunoassay (ECLIA) and serum levels of SCCA of85cases of esophageal cancer patients had been tested by Chemiluminescence (CL)before and after radiotherapy in esophageal cancer patients. SPSS13.0was used forthe statistical analysis.Results:(1)The positive rate of CYFRA21-1, SCCA was41.2%,16.5%beforeradiotherapy in esophageal cancer patients. The positive rate was47.1%when theywere detected together. The positive expression of CYFRA21-1, SCCA was decreasedsignificantly after radiotherapy.(2)The positive rates of CYFRA21-1and SCCA were:57.1%(24/42) and26.2%(11/42) respectively in the group that esophageal wall was thickening more than2cm showed by spiral CT. And25.6%(11/43)and6.9%(3/43)from the other group that esophageal wall was thickening less than or equal to2cm. There was statistically significant between the two groups (P=0.003, P=0.017).(3)The positive rates of CYFRA21-1and SCCA were58.1%(18/31)and29.0%(9/31)respectively in the group that the length of tumor was more than5cm showedby esophagus barium meal, and31.4%(17/54) and9.3%(5/54) in the other group thatthe length of tumor was less than or equal to5cm. There was statistically significantbetween the two groups (P=0.017, P=0.018).(4)The positive rates of CYFRA21-1and SCCA were53.8%(21/39)and25.6%(10/39)respectively in the group ofpatients with lymph node metastasis in clinical examination, and30.4%(14/46) and8.7%(4/46) respectively in the other group of patients without lymph node metastasis. There was statistically significant between the two groups (P=0.029, P=0.036).(5)The positive rates of CYFRA21-1and SCCA were42.9%(3/7)and14.3%(1/7)in the upper esophageal lesions,47.5%(28/59)and15.3%(9/59)in the middle, and21.1%(4/19)and21.1%(4/19)in the lower. There was not statistically significantin the three groups (P=0.110, P=0.835).(6)76patients were followed up afterradiotherapy. The cases of positive expression of CYFRA21-1and SCCA were31and11before radiotherapy. The clinical remission rate was55.3%after radicalradiotherapy. To sum up, it was not statistically significant between whether theexpression of CYFRA21-1, SCCA before radiotherapy in patients was positive ornegative and clinical remission after radiotherapy.Conclusion:(1)The positive expression of CYFRA21-1, SCCA has the relationshipwith the thickness of tumor, esophageal lesion length and lymph node metastasis, butit was not related to the part of lesion. CYFRA21-1is better relatively in the twomakers.(2)Changes of serum contents of CYFRA21-1, SCCA after radiotherapymight have great effect on prognosis of esophageal cancer patients.(3)It was notstatistically significant between the short-term effect after radiotherapy and the factthat whether the expression of CYFRA21-1, SCCA was positive or negative.
