ObjectiveSystemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a complicated clinical manifestations, repeated, prolonged course autoimmune diseases that may involve multiple organs. The disease occurs seven to nine times more often in women than in men, especially in women in child-bearing years ages15to45. Majority of patients was hiding onset. Some of the patients will be in a long-term stable subclinical state, while part of the mild patients may suddenly become severe SLE, and more patients will appear multisystem damage gradually. Sometimes the onset of SLE occurs multiple organ involvement, even manifest as SLE crisis. The key of treatment is to reconstruct the normal immune function. Western medicine such as glucocorticoid and immunosuppressants was used to suppress sthenic immune responses, focusing on taking temporary solution. The traditional Chinese medicine focuses on the overall regulation of immune function by reconstructing a stable state. Using Western medicine rescue measures are needed when we meet critical condition. But the side effect will occur more often when using long-term glucocorticoid and immunosuppressants. Traditional Chinese medicine is characterized by starting from the whole and therapy with syndrome differentiation. The advantages of Chineses medicine is to regulate Ying and Yang Qi-blood and the function of ZANG FU-organs, enhance the defense capability, improve the immune function of organisim and reduce side effect. Therefore, combining traditional Chinese and Western medicine treatment of SLE can not only play the attenuated synergistic effect, but also can play its unique advantages, such as preventing infection, stabilizing condition, reducing recurrence and greatly improving the quality of life in patients with SLE Objective:This study will use Minor Bupleurum Decoction to treat the SLE patients and explore its possible mechanism of action through detection of the patients in peripheral blood with T regulatory cell levels.Method:1.40patients from the inpatient department were divided into treatment group and control group. There are20patients in each group. The control group was treated with glucocorticoids and methotrexate while the treatment group was treated with glucocorticoids and Minor Bupleurum Decoction.2. Use the flow cytometry to detect the CD4+CD25+regulatory T cell level before and after two months treatment. Enter the data into the computer, use SPSS18.0software for statistical processing.Result:After treatment, comparing with the normal control group, the regulatory T cells in the two groups were significantly higher than before treatment (P<0.05). Thus, regulatory T cells and the occurrence of SLE have certain relevance. After treatment, the Treg/CD4+T (%) in treatment group was6.46±2.15, while the control group was6.48+1.47. There was no significant difference between two groups after treatment in the Treg level(P>0.05). Thus, the Minor Bupleurum Decoction combined with small dose of glucocorticoid have a certain role in promoting the regulatory T cells. Conclusion:From the comparison, we can see that Minor Bupleurum Decoction with a small dose of glucocorticoid was effective as traditional Western medicine in the treatment of low activity patients with SLE. Minor Bupleurum Decoction have a certain role in promoting the regulatory T cells. It has the advantage in regulating the cellular immune function. Integrative medicine treatment of SLE is worthy of clinical application and promotion.
