Purposes:To further understand the feelings during treatment and self-perceivedburden of young patients with AL. To master the patients’ care needs when theyare in hospital so as to provide the theory basis for nurses when they offerpsychological support for patients and new concept for the nursing professionalknowledge system.Methods:Phenomenological method of Qualitative Research Methods (QRM) wasemployed in this study.64young patients of AL in the first hospital of JilinUniversity were enrolled in the present study and questionnaire survey wasperformed to evaluate the patients status, and finally10individuals wereselected for deep communication as typical cases. The questionnaire surveyincluded in ordinary investigating questionnaires and SCL-90(SymptomChecklist90) questionnaires. Simultaneously, semi-structural outlines weredeveloped to record, rectify and analyze the content of the talk of the10typicalindividuals in this study.Results:1. The scores of body symptom, depress and anxiety of young patientswith AL were higher than those of normal controls (P<0.05), but no statisticaldifference was observed in gender, age, education status, traits of character,marital status, chemotherapy treatment for the disease, subjective feeling,duration, medical costs in the body symptom, anxiety, depression and otheraspects (P>0.05).2. Five subjects were summarized in the qualitative research: the reaction of getting the fact of illness; the pressure of role shift; the burden of treatmentand prognosis of the disease; the family’s burden; economic burden; emotionalburden; the burden of caregivers.Conclusions:1. Young patients of AL tend to have obvious somatic symptoms, anxietyand depression. However, there was no significant difference in age, gender,educational level, chemotherapy treatment, duration, medical fees.2. Coping styles were different in the patients of different personalities,but all patients have obvious anxiety and depression.3. In general, during the period of treatment, high cost for the disease wasthe primary factor for them to consider whether to continue the treatment ornot.
