| Objective:to investigate the application of endovascular treatment for aneurysms of the posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA).Methods:8patient with aneurysms of the posterior inferior cerebellar artery who underwent endovascular treatment during2010-2011were retrospectively analyzed. Pre-treatment and post-treatment symptom were observed, and the outcome of treatment was evaluated by follow up.RESULT:In all patients, the aneurysm was successfully occluded.5patients used the Hydrocoil Embolic System (HES) embolic system and3patients used the Onyx liquid embolic system. There was no apparent procedure-related complications in all patients. Follow-up studies showed stable and complete occlusion of the aneurysm in7patients with no long-term neurologic deficits,1patient remained low-level hemiplegia. Conclusion:Endovascular treatment by aneurysm and parent artery occlusion is a relatively safe and reliable alternative to surgery for saccular aneurysm aneurysms of the PICA. |
