ObjectiveBy reviewing the medical records of acute cerebral ischemic stroke patients admitted to the General Internal Medicine Ward of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine during the3years from2009to2011, this study is to explore the relationship between certain indicators of acute cerebral infarction and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) syndrome, and provide a basis for diagnosis, objective research, as well as further research of TCM syndrome diagnosis.MethordIn this study, we collected416cases of acute cerebral ischemic stroke patients admitted to the General Internal Medicine Ward of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine from1January2009to31September2011.We count certain indicators and use statistical methods to deal with related data, in order to analyze the relationship between TCM syndrome of acute cerebral infarction and related indicators. The SPSS12.0statistics software was employed in statistical analysis. Quantitative data were described as mean±standard deviation(x±s), the t test was used for the analyze between two sets of data, and the F test was used for the analyze among multiple sets of data; Qualitative data were analyzed with the chisquare test. Name P<0.05as significant difference.Results1. Overall, collateral and meridian stroke is the majority; in the five specific syndrome types, syndrome of blood stasis-phlegm makes up the most, followed by syndrome type of ascendant hyperactivity of liver yang, syndrome of phlegm clouding the heart spiritmakes makes up the lest, followed by syndrome of internal harassment of phlegm-heat.2. Male patients or older patients accounted for the majority of all cases in this study. More than a half suffered from hypertension, and66.3%patients got systolic blood pressure higher than140mmHg.3. After statistical analyzed, we found that age, dyslipidemia history, hemogram abnormalities, dyslipidemia, imaging diagnosis, and co-infection were significantly related to TCM syndromes of acute cerebral ischemic stroke (P<0.05or P<0.01). Some indicators showed no significant relationship to TCM syndromes of acute cerebral ischemic stroke, such as gender, history of hypertension, history of heart disease, history of diabetes, history of stroke, history of smoking, history of drinking, body temperature, pulse, blood pressure, blood glucose, and coagulation abnormalities (P>0.05).ConclusionAge, dyslipidemia history, hemogram abnormalities, dyslipidemia, imaging diagnosis, co-infection were significantly related to TCM syndromes of acute cerebral ischemic stroke. But no significant relation was found between TCM syndromes of acute cerebral ischemic stroke and some indicators such as gender, history of hypertension, history of heart disease, history of diabetes, history of stroke, history of smoking, history of drinking, body temperature, pulse, blood pressure, blood glucose, and coagulation abnormalities.
