ObjectiveNowadays, chemotherapy is one of the regulation treatments to the advanced non-small cell lung cancer. But the side effect is the most important reason of limiting the use of the drugs of chemotherapy. Acupuncture is one of the greatest of treasure in the mother medicine. In the ancient medical literature, we can find about the acupuncture how to treat to the tumor. And today a large number of research and literature have been confirmed that the acupuncture can reduce the toxicity and increase the effect of treatment. We hope to get the conclusion that the advanced non-small cell lung cancer patient can benefit from the treatment of combination the moxibustion and chemotherapy. We also hope to promotion the treatment through providing the basis from the clinical trial.MethodsThe study is a prospective, randomized, controlled clinical trial. The study collects the40patients who are in Foshan Hospital of traditional Chinese Medicine from the December2010to December2011. The40patients were assigned to the treatment group or the control group by the table of random number randomly. The treatment group received combination the chemotherapy and moxibustion which is beginning from the first day to seventh day after chemotherpy. The control group receive chemotherapy only. The data analyzed for efficacy, toxicity and immune function comparisons from the two cycle therapy. The efficacy and tocity index are contain progression-free survival(PFS), the serum of tumor marker, the routine blood test, the liver function, the renal function and so on.ResultsFirst, the patients receiving the moxibustion and chemotherapy had a median progression-free survival of122days compared with100days for patients receiving chemotherapy only, but it has not the significance.Second, it has not the significance in the decrease of the serum of the tumor marker between the treatment group and the control group.Third, the incidence of adverse reactions on the observation group is lower than the control group. After the second therapy, neutropenia was less frequent in treatment group (5%) compared with control group (30%; P<0.05).Fourth, after the second therapy we can find that the treatment group of the CD3/HLA DR" and the CD62P were significant lower than before the treatment. However on the control group is similar to CD3/HLA DR-and CD62P after the treatment.GonclusionFirst, the moxibustion can reduce the incidence of neutropenia when the patients are receiving the chemothepy;Second, the moxibustion may work by the mechanism of anti-tumor immune through the mobilization of human resting T lymphocyte activity;Third, the moxibustion may work by the mechanism of reducing the CD62P activity to Inhibition of tumor metastasis.Fourth, the treatment of combination moxibustion and chemotherpy it may improve the progression-free survival in patients of advanced non-small cell lung cancer...
