Object:The purpose of the study was to explore the effective mathods that medical social workers intervene in miscommunication between medical workers and patients, and to evaluate the intervention effectiveness of professional methods of social work acted on patients’ cognition such as doctor-patient relationship, medical service and mental health so as to provide scientific evidence for medical social work mechanism of medical service and make doctor-patient relationship harmony.Methods:By cluster sampling, the200hospitalized patients from orthopaedics ward of the certain polyclinic in Wu Han province were selected. According to inclusion and exclusion criterion, all patients were divided into two groups, and the test group and control group had100patients, respectively. The test group was serviced with the new social work’s professional methods by medical social workers for one to two weeks while the control group had the general treatment without the service from medical social workers. A questionnaire survey was conducted among two groups after intervene stage.Result:There were192patients completed the questionnaire:The test group90cases, the control group102cases.97.4%patients were Han nationality. The age rang was from14to80years. There were127males and65females, and the ratio of male to female was1.95:1.Patients come from city and rural area were95,97, respectively, and the ratio of city to rural area was0.98:1.In the part of intervention effectiveness evaluation:①Patients’ cognition about the current situation of doctor-patient relationship:the test group had higher score than the control group (P<0.05).②Satisfaction of medical professional service:The test group’s score of total and sub-item were higher than the control group (P<0.05).③Satisfaction of medical information support:The total score of test group was higher than the control group as well as the score of sub-item such as medical insurance and the disabled identification (P<0.05).but score of "relevant-law information" had no differences.④Medical workers’humanistic quality:The test group’s score of total and sub-item were higher than the control group (P<0.05).⑤Mentality and emotion:The depression of the test group and the control group had no statistic difference while patients in the control group had more anxiety than ones in the test group (P<0.05)Conclution::As a new pattern of medical service, which medical social worker use their professional methods to intervene communication of medical workers and patients, surely released patients’ stress as well as improved their degree of satisfaction with medical service and understanding with medical workers, so as to remove their prejudice with medical work, and effectively constructed a harmonious relationship between doctor and patient.
