Tuberculous Peritonitis Presenting As Bloody Ascites: A Case Report And Review Of The Literature

OBJECTIVE:To summarize the experience in diagnosis and treatment of tuberculous peritonitis presenting as bloody ascites and discuss the clinical characteristics.METHODS:A medical records about Tuberculous peritonitis presenting as bloody ascites which was analyzedretrospectiv ely and the literature was reviewed.DESIGN:Case report.PATIENT(S):A31-year-old male patient who was admitted to our hospital complaining of abdominal distension and fatigueINTERVENTION(S):With liver-protective and diuretic therapy unvaluable, the anti-tubercular therapy was performed after he the pulmonary tuberculosis was confirmed.RESULT(S):ascites disappeared after anti-tubercular herapy.CONCLUSION(S):Tuberculous peritonitis should be considered in those young patients with unexplained ascites.
