Objective:To study the influence of emulsifiers on inhibitory effect of the Magnolol, Honokiol and their mixture on streptococcus mutans and its mechanisms by studying the inhibitory effects of magnolol on the growth and acid production of streptococcus mutans under solubilization of three emulsifiers-polyethylene glycol400, Tween20, Tween80. It can be a reference to selecting emulsifier when the anti-caries drug prescription can be made in Magnolia.Method:The clinical separation of S. mutans was chosen as experimental strains and cultivated by MS (Light salivary-AGAR medium) media1. Honokiol, Magnolol, honokilo and magnolol were dissolved in40%polyethylene glycol400, Tween20, Tween80to prepare three-groups solutions, and then they will diluted to preset the concentration of40%polyethylene glycol400, Tween20, Tween80, and operated on the S. mutans. The inhibitory effect of those solutions on S Mutans was measured by slip diffution method.2. Honokiol, Magnolol, Honokiol and magnolol were dissolved in40%polyethylene glycol400, Tween20, Tween80to prepare three-groups solutions. These solutions were added into MS liquid medium proportionally. The same amount of bacteria was added into the MS liquid medium and was cultured to study the inhibittion effect of production acid of Streptococcus mutans.Result:1. At high concentration honokiol, magnolol and their compund, under solubilization of polyethylene glycol400had better inhibitory effect on the growth of streptococcus mutans. At low concentration honokiol, magnolol and their mixture, under solubilization of Tween80had better inhibitory effect.2. Honokiol, magnolol and their compund, under solubilization of polyethylene glycol400had best inhibitory effect on acid production of streptococcus mutans, and honokiol, magnolol and their compund, under solubilization of Tween80had worst inhibitory effect.Conclusion:honokiol, magnolol and their compund under solubilization of different emulsifiers had different inhibitory effect on the growth and acid production of streptococcus mutans. Increasing the lipophilic chain in emulsifiers increased the inhibitory effect on the diffusion of magnolol. |
