The Sect. Palaeosymplocos Brand is the only one genus of the Symplocaceae, which includes ca.300species. About77species are widely distributed in China, mainly in southwest and southeast of China, especially southwest in China. Several species are employed as folk medicines to treat different diseases such as furuncle, fever, cough and tumefaction with their roots, stems or leaves. Extensive studies of the genus symplocos have led to the identification of many compounds, such as triterpenoids, flavonoids, lignine, and so on. A number of compounds of them have strong antioxidant and antibacterial activity.There are less studies on chemical constituents and activity ingredients of the genus Sect. Palaeosymplocos Brand ’s in China. The study of chemical constituents for symplocos anomala brand has not been reported. On my searching for plant-derived bioactivities compounds, the plant of symplocos anomala brand has been chemically studied7compounds have been isolated, purified from this plant. Their structures have been determined by UV, MS, NMR analysis, respectively. All of them are isolated from this plant first time. And do antioxidant activity research and antibacterial activity research for the4compounds of these compounds.(1). The advances in isolation and bioactivities of components from The Sect. Palaeosymplocos Brand. Have been reviewed, which can provide the basement for the research of symplocos anomala brand.2. The chemical constituents in the petroleum ether extract of symplocos anomala brand have been separated by repeating chromatography on silica gel to obstain compound Ⅰ3. The chemical constituents in the ethyl acetate extract of symplocos anomala brand have been isolated by chromatography on silica gel, HPLC and so on and gain sever compounds (Ⅱ-Ⅶ).4. According to the physical and chemical properties and comparing the data of their wave spectroscopy to relevant references respectively,7compounds’structures have been determined. They areβ-sitosterol (Ⅰ), Uvoal (Ⅱ), α-amyrin (Ⅲ), Oleanolic acid (Ⅳ), Ursolic acid (Ⅴ), Pentacosanoic acid (Ⅵ), and eicosanoid (Ⅶ).The results of present study will be useful to further phytochemical. The research of DPPH free radical-scavenging and the research of cylinder plate method on the4compounds Ⅱ, Ⅲ, Ⅳ, Ⅴ discovered they have strong biological activity.
